Under the new partnership, UK patients with unmet medical needs are offered seamless access to discovering pre-approval options, empowering them to take more control of their treatment journey.
(Amsterdam – 25 February, 2025) – myTomorrows, a global health technology company connecting patients with all possible pre-approval treatment options, today announced a new partnership with Patients Know Best (PKB), a social enterprise and the leading personal health record platform in the UK. The collaboration will enable UK patients with unmet medical needs to access their health records and conduct more efficient searches for further treatment options.
Under the new partnership, patients can securely share their PKB record with myTomorrows if they want to search for clinical trials. myTomorrows will use the information provided by the patient to identify relevant pre-approval treatments such as clinical trials and where applicable, Expanded Access Programs (EAPs), via their free AI-powered search platform and supportive Patient Navigation services.
Patients’ health records are generated by various healthcare providers and across multiple settings, including clinician consultations, hospital visits, wearable devices, and medication lists. As a result, patients’ data is often fragmented, making it difficult for them to access a complete view of their medical history and hindering their ability to make informed decisions regarding their treatment options. The need to synchronise digital patient data more effectively has been recognised by the UK government as part of the NHS long term 10-year plan.
The new partnership will provide UK patients with a PKB profile (integrated with the NHS App) with an efficient way to explore potential pre-approval treatment options for unmet medical needs. Patients can consent to securely share their medical records, stored within PKB, with myTomorrows, enabling them to conduct a full comprehensive treatment search based on their unique profile.
myTomorrows’ platform is one of the most comprehensive and unbiased clinical trial (and EAP) search tools in the world. It sources information from a wide range of trusted, World Health Organization (WHO) endorsed public registries, including clinicaltrials.gov, EudraCT and ISRCTN.
Rather than manually pulling together medical records, via this collaboration, patients can save time by consenting to share their health records from PKB, with the myTomorrows Patient Navigator team. The team then uses this accurate and up-to-date information to promptly create a personalised trial search overview, revealing relevant pre-approval treatments which the patient may be eligible for. The patient and their clinician can then review and discuss whether a treatment option could be pursued. myTomorrows can then provide support with potentially accessing that treatment option.
PKB integrates data in real-time from existing hospital, GP, social care, and mental health IT systems, as well as the patient’s own contributed information, to create one unified patient record. This means aggregated information stored in PKB s is always accessible to patients, their caregivers and any healthcare professionals who become involved in their care, regardless of where they are in the country or in the world. By empowering patients, PKB also supports increased self-care enabling broader efficiencies within the NHS.
“It is a privilege to partner with Patients Know Best, an organisation which values and champions patient centricity as much as myTomorrows. Through this partnership we will enable patients and their physicians to more easily identify the most relevant pre-approval treatment options,” said Dr. Michel van Harten, CEO of myTomorrows. “When standard care no longer addresses a patient’s medical needs, the search for alternative solutions can be overwhelming. Through this collaboration, we aim to give patients, their families, and healthcare professionals across the UK a simplified way of identifying the next steps in their treatment journey.”
“At Patients Know Best, our mission is to ensure that every patient has access to and ownership of their personal health records, with the ability to control who can view them and use relevant information to manage their care,” said Mohammad Al-Ubaydli, CEO and Founder of Patients Know Best. “Through this partnership, we are excited to further empower patients to make more informed decisions regarding their health.”
